Eragon is the key to winning the war against Galbatorix the evil king and his black dragon Shrukin. As Eragon travels with the Varden he is sent to approve the next king of Farthen Dur. He travels to Farthen Dur without his dragon Saphira; after he is attacked by enemy dwarfs Saphira wont stand it any longer so she flies to Eragon. After that battle Eragon travles to Elsmera to get a riders sword. After Runan the elven smith makes the sword eith Eragons hands. the swords name is Brisinger fire in the anchent language.
